Mega List of Homeschooling Links
My guess is all homeschooling families using the Internet (and who doesn't) have a list of their favorite sites. Since my oldest was 3 years old I've been compiling a list of links to my favorite's list... sort of an archaic way of keeping track of the links. Then I realized that between all the links for my children and all the links for me, it was taking minutes rather than seconds to scroll through them all. Suddenly this method wasn't all that efficient.
About 2 years ago I created a blog for my kids... with images and links to their favorite sites so they could navigate to mommy approved sites without my help and without trying to scroll through a massive list. They of course loved that they had their own blog and still use it to this day. When we find something they like online, we often add it to the blog and today they have everything from a David Crowder Band video to links to Scholastic and National Geographic posted there.
Now is the time for phase 3. I needed something that's more in line with curriculum planning, so I started a new blog for me and for whomever else wants quick access to great learning links and activities, free ebooks, pdf's, downloads, craft ideas, lapbooking guides and more.
My new site is called Links 2 Learn By and is every bit a work in progress. In fact I typically add to it several times a week. My criteria for what gets listed here is pretty stringent. It must be free site or at the very least have a section offering something worthwhile for free to those of us not interested in paying for a membership, book, or club. Additionally, I must find the information or offerings interesting and/or beneficial. I've spent too much of my homeschooling life (short as that may be) scrolling through directories of mostly useless links. My list will hopefully save you time and give you something worth having.
In addition to this new blog I have an upcoming post to The Homeschooling Blog that will be loaded with 100+ links to my favorite places on the web. Stay tuned!
