Homeschooling and Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!! I just thought I'd mention that I'm currently compiling a lesson plan for Thanksgiving week that will take the place of our normal curriculum and hopefully be a lot of fun. My current thought is to have Monday be a regular school day, then to do the Thanksgiving themed lessons Tues and Wed, and give the kids Thurs and Fri off. I don't think they'd get much done those days anyway with daddy home, and trips to the grandparent's homes... am I right?

In any case, I'd like to share the lessons I compile here, so that if you want... you could borrow some of my ideas. Actually a lot of what I'm doing is borrowed from others, but I'll still share it all... along with my sources of course. ; )

So, if you have Pre-K through first, maybe even second grade, visit me on Monday and I'll hopefully have things ironed out and posted. I'm trying to gather everything from the history of Thanksgiving to budget-friendly crafts. I'm also looking at math, reading, and writing assignments that fit with the holiday, just so we're still getting that must have repetition of the basics into our day. I really think this is essential, especially considering they'll be completely off the hook for nearly half a week.

If you have great ideas for Thanksgiving, even Christmas... I'd love to hear them! I have my email contact in the sidebar, or you can just leave a comment here. Maybe you have your own homeschooling blog and would like to share a post with us on holiday themed lessons? Feel free!
