Superbowl Party Planning on a Budget

Who can afford to throw a party these days? Well, I suppose things aren't tight for everyone, but for many homeschoolers we make life happen on a single income. Consider the state of the economy and throwing a Superbowl Party may seem out of the question, but... maybe it's not.

If you're looking for superbowl party ideas that won't break the bank, a website called Celebrations offers free party planning ideas, budget cutting suggestions (like potluck parties), and every mom's favorite tip of purchasing tableware at the dollar store. Some of the suggestions might have already occurred to you, but I found a few that I hadn't occurred to me.

I found a handful of recipes, Superbowl party activity ideas, decorating tips and suggestions, a section on Superbowl history and tradition, and of course a check off list so you'll not forget to do anything before the guests arrive.

This site also has a viewer guide which will help you plan the time of your gathering, including when to expect the halftime spectacle.

Can I just say I've never thrown a Superbowl party? We don't have the type of television that exactly draws in the neighborhood! lol Well there's that and my husband doesn't watch football. I wouldn't mind being invited to a Superbowl party though... hint hint.

This site sort of reminds me of the sites I visited for wedding planning some 10 years ago when I was newly engaged and looking for ways to cut corners at our reception and chapel. Wouldn't you know it... Celebrations offers great advice and suggestions not only for Superbowl parties, but for birthday parties, baby showers, Valentine's Day, Oscar parties and yes... even bridal parties!

Hi Wendy!

Keeping the party in the family budget is super important to many moms today. I think that we're all feeling the economy crunch but don't want to miss out on a special time with loved ones.

For this year's Superbowl parties, I think we need to take a previous Superbowl commercial into consideration; Tide-to-go "Talking Stain" Ad. As everyone jumps around cheering on the teams, drinks and food are bound to be spilled all over! To keep our homes and our friends clean (and maintaining good impressions), might I suggest having Tide-to-go pens at the party?

On behalf of Tide, I'd like everyone to know that Tide is offering a coupon at Tidetogo.com (stock up and be the "Hero" at the party while also saving your cash !)

Also, if you loved the "Talking Stain" commercial, you can vote for it to be named the top Superbowl commercial on CBS.com There will be a show revealing the top choice on Jan 31, 2009. Vote here: http://www.cbs.com/collections/superbowl/index.php?week=1 (Then at 8p.m. ET, watch the show and vote live to pick between the top 3!)
