Staying Cool On Hot Summer Days & A Giveaway!

Hot Summer days are on the horizon! Depending on your preference for climate, the heat can either be a good or a bad thing, but one thing is for certain... you'll want to keep those precious children of yours cool. At our home there's no better time than now to stock up on frozen fruits and powdered milk, as we gear up for our traditional Summertime smoothies. Oh, Summer just wouldn't be Summer without them!

Here's my tried and true recipe which easily serves two growing children and occasionally leaves enough for me...

1 large banana (doesn't need to be frozen)
5 frozen blueberries
5 frozen raspberries
10 frozen strawberries
3 frozen peach segments
1/4 powdered milk
1/2 cup 2% milk

Throw everything into your blender and start chopping until the consistency if suitable for blending. You may want to adjust the volume of milk to suit your preference for thickness. I try to make the smoothies just loose enough to be straw-friendly.

The frozen fruits can be found bagged in the frozen food section of your market, usually next to the pie crusts. ;) Don't you love how this recipe is all healthy? No surprises here! Nothing unatural or brewed in a labortory. There's not even a pinch of sugar outside the natural sweetness provided from the fruit itself. Wonderful!

Ok... now for the giveaway. This post's content was completely inspired by From Dates to Diapers and Beyond, who are generously offering a Fun in the Sun gift pack to one lucky winner! Entering is ultra-simple. All you have to do is visit the site and share your best mom tip for keeping your kids cool on hot Summer days.
