Playground Rubber Mulch... Old Tires Protecting Young Kids

You just gotta love it when someone finds a future for an old smelly tire! You can only make so many tire swings after all!

Have you ever visited a community or school playground with rubber mulch? We first found rubber mulch at a local elementary school when our kids were 4 and 5 years of age and we were starting preschool and kindergarten from home. We visited many different playgrounds back then and found many different playground surfaces. The rubber mulch was harder to run on, but it was very forgiving if and when my little turkeys took a tumble! lol We never worried about them skinning a knee or bruising a brow!

If you've seen the rubber mulch on school playgrounds and wondered where you could purchase it for your
own play areas, or for a community playground... (perhaps you're in charge of finding the best surface material for a new play area) Rubberecycle offers many different colors and varieties of rubber mulch.

With rubber mulch Commercial playgrounds and family play areas alike can help rid the world of tire graveyards and provide children with the best shock absorption possible!

What's more some of the color options are beautiful! Sounds ridiculous to say beautiful rubber tire mulch... but I'm looking at the pretties royal blue mulch you'll ever see. lol Seriously cool! You can also find terracotta red and forest green among other colors!

What types of playground surfaces are your personal favorites? Would you consider rubber mulch as an alternative to sand, gravel, or wooden mulch? Why or why not?

Old tires that can no longer be used are usually thrown into landfills or burned. Landfills can be filled quickly with tires, and burning them puts toxic fumes into the air. Tire mulch is considered a good way to recycle tires and provide a safe surface for outdoor areas.
