Last year the kids and I watched as the Decorah Eagles went from keeping 3 eggs safe and warm to viewing large and healthy eaglets venture from their nest for the very first time.
What a wonder that is to watch! A set of 24/7 cameras situated on an eagles nest in Decorah Iowa, high atop a tree. Last year we left the laptop running as we went about our daily routine... oh how the sounds of nature filled our home! We'd peak over at the screen if we heard a baby cry, or the sound of an eagle landing with a fresh fish for feeding. We'd nearly wet ourselves when we'd catch an eaglet shoot it's business at the camera. lol They shoot it wherever they happen to be pointing their hind ends... up up and away!
The 2012 streaming is live! I'm not sure how long it's been airing. I actually forgot about it until my mom reminded me that she'd been watching again! They're back for another year of rearing young eaglets... yet to be hatched, eggs just laid in February.
What's really cool about this site (other than the obvious)? If you miss a milestone, such as a hatching... there are links to those moments! So, if something amazing happens when you're out running errands, cooking dinner, or taking a much needed walk (or nap), you're not out of luck! Gotta love that!
I'm embedding the ustream video here to The Homeschooling Blog... or you may visit the site directly at Ustream Decorah Eagle. There is the occasional commercial, but for the most part, it's all eagle all the time!
