The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius

Guest post from Sydney Kown

I have two young nephews, and they go crazy whenever "The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" comes on television. Whenever I babysit them, I make sure we watch this show on satelite tv, because I know how much they enjoy it.

I like this show, because it puts a positive spin on education for children. Sometimes, kids that like science and math can be ostracized by their peers. This show actually works against that type of stereotyping, and makes it look "cool" for kids to enjoy math and science. I know that ever since watching this program, my two nephews always talk about how much they want to be scientists. I enjoy watching the media actually be a positive influence in my nephews lives, rather than something that makes them feel inadequate.

Jimmy Neutron is the main character of this show, and he is always figuring out solutions to the problems he faces in each episode. He is portrayed as the ultimate genius, and I think he inspires young kids to reach their potential. The episode I watched was not only funny and charming, but had great educational value to it. My two nephews and me learned a lot about the field of chemistry, just by watching one episode of Jimmy Neutron! I highly recommend this program as an educational tool for motivating children to be interested in science and math.
