I thought I'd post the results of a days work in the kitchen. This cake took me most of the day to complete, but alas it is done! My daughter's 7th birthday party is tomorrow and she wanted a Penguins of Madagascar cake. At first I thought... hmmm I really don't feel like sculpting penguins out of fondant, maybe I'll just purchase some plastic toys. Guess what? They don't make plastic Madagascar penguins... or at least no one in the Kansas City area carries them... so yay. lolI had fun making the characters even though I wasn't all that excited about it at the time I started. Usually I have a vision for what the end result will be, but this cake sorta just happened and I'm not really sure what is going on here. The idea I guess is that the brick wall is down and water is flowing, but it really doesn't make much sense. Probably shouldn't be pointing that out. lol
So what do you think? Do the characters look somewhat like the cartoon? I made Yoda for my son 5 months ago and wanted to do something equally cool for my daughter. Hopefully I have. This time tomorrow it will be gone and all we'll have is this photo. Sorta funny if you think about it!
